Looking for the perfect blend of tea? Try Lapsang Souchong tea. The Lapsang Souchong Tea is more than just your average tea. For one, it’s not merely tea but has many other uses. It can be used as a marinade for roasted meat, a flavor enhancer for ice cream as well as with salty and spicy dishes. Plus, it can be the perfect substitute for coffee. The Lapsang Souchong is a natural black tea that originated in the Province of Fujian in China. The locals call it the ‘smoked tea’ because its leaves undergo a process of smoke-drying over pinewood fires. This is the key process of making the Lapsang Souchong tea that gives it its unique smoky taste. The process of making this tea starts by harvesting the mature leaves that usually begins in the second week of May. The harvested leaves are picked to produce Lapsang. Next is the withering process where the leaves are spread over smoldering pine, oak or cypress tea embers. Then, they are pan fried, rolled and placed in wooden barrels for oxidation process to begin. Lastly, they are hung over an oak, pine or cypress smoke to dry. Tea is considereded healthy because of its high antioxidant content and does not add calories to your diet. Being a black tea in nature, the Lapsang Souchong Tea can be a great substitute for coffee. It has enough caffeine to keep you alert and awake throughout the day but not as much as some strong coffee that often cause jitters. This tea is also great for losing weight. The antioxidants combined with caffeine make this possible as it said that it will help speed up your metabolism. Low in caloies and high in anti-oxidants make it the perfect beverage when dieting.
